"The Timeless," a musical concert in tribute to Cheikh Abdelkrim Dali (1914-1978), a leading figure in Andalusian music, was performed on Saturday evening in Algiers by a host of artists to mark the 48th anniversary of his passing.

Organized at the Boualem-Bessaih Algiers Opera by the Cheikh Abdelkrim Dali Foundation, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, this event—held on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of his passing—celebrates the exceptional artistic heritage of this icon of Algerian music.

In her address, Wahiba Dali, president of the Cheikh Abdelkrim Dali Foundation, emphasized that this event "celebrates an emblematic figure of Andalusian music and a symbol of pride who continues to make Algerian culture shine across the world."

Through this tribute, she continued, the Foundation aims to highlight the importance of "transmitting the musical genius of Abdelkrim Dali to new generations and preserving his legacy," which, she stated, has "shaped the Algerian musical identity," recalling the deep connection between his work and traditional Algerian festivities.

Under the direction of Leïla Kebir, the Foundation's orchestra accompanied several performers of the Andalusian repertoire, representing its three schools. They revisited famous pieces of Senâa, one of the three variants of Andalusian music, of which Abdelkrim Dali was a prominent figure.

Sharing a single stage, Lila Borsali, Wahab Djazouli, Asma Ait Chaabane, Nassima Haffaf, and Rifel Kalfat revisited several of Cheikh Abdelkrim Dali's tracks, notably "Saha Aidkoum," one of his undeniable masterpieces.

Prior to this, the Foundation also paid tribute to artists and conductors from the Senâa school of Algiers for their pedagogical commitment and contribution to the transmission of the Algerian musical heritage.

On this occasion, Mohamed Chérif Saoudi and Haroun Moussa, former students of Abdelkrim Dali, as well as Naguib Kateb and Abdelouahab Boukouroura, were honored.
