The total number of the electoral body in Algeria, following the exceptional revision of the electoral rolls in anticipation of the upcoming July 2 legislative elections, has reached 24,727,041 voters, according to a statement released this Monday by the Independent National Authority of Elections (ANIE).
The same source clarified that the size of the electoral body after the exceptional revision of the electoral rolls reached "24,727,041 voters, including 23,872,756 voters inside the country and 854,285 voters from the national community residing abroad."
The electoral body is distributed by gender as follows: 13,255,949 male voters and 11,471,091 female voters.
As for the age breakdown, the category of voters aged 18 to under 25 reached "1,276,683 voters," while the category of voters aged 25 to under 40 was estimated at "7,108,094 voters." Meanwhile, the category of voters aged 40 and over was estimated at "16,356,251 voters," as pointed out by the independent authority.
The Authority also noted that "the number of registered individuals who will reach the age of 18 on polling day stands at 27,234 registrants, while 291,584 new registrants who have never registered before were counted."
In the same context, the Authority reported that "the number of people registered due to a change of residence reached 223,928," while the number of those struck off the rolls due to a change of residence reached 263,689. Furthermore, "52,554 individuals were struck off due to death, and 2,522 were struck off due to the loss of voting rights."
It is worth noting that the electoral body prior to the exceptional revision was estimated at 24,503,060 voters, of whom 23,633,818 were voters inside the country and 869,242 were voters from the national community residing abroad.
