The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, praised the national wave of solidarity displayed by Algerians in the face of the wildfires.

This came during his periodic interview with representatives of the national media, which was broadcast on Monday evening across national television and radio channels.

The President of the Republic reaffirmed the State's full mobilization to protect citizens and their property amidst these exceptional climatic conditions.

The President made a point to reassure public opinion regarding the mobilization of rescue services. "We are mobilized 24 hours a day," the President affirmed.

He continued: "Algerians have witnessed the efforts undertaken by Civil Protection personnel alongside the People's National  Army, forestry agents, Sonelgaz, and our youth."

The President paid tribute to these young people who "continue to impress the world with their high sense of patriotism and remarkable spirit of volunteerism."

Regarding the causes of these fires, the President pointed to "confirmed climate change."

He explained that Algeria "is not immune to this ordeal," citing the wildfires experienced by Canada, the Mediterranean basin, and various parts of the world.

He specifically touched upon the "unusual" temperatures, which reached 47°C in Algiers and Annaba and exceeded 50°C in Tizi Ouzou.

He attributed this to the "heat dome phenomenon."

"We are not accustomed to such temperatures. A heat dome formed, which is part of adverse climate fluctuations," he stated.

The President of the Republic announced that "concrete measures" will be taken to recognize and honor the dedication of personnel operating on the ground.
