The Sonatrach Group announced on Wednesday the export of its first shipment of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG/Butane) to Chad, in implementation of the framework agreement signed with the Chadian company "Gazcom."

The Group explained in a statement that the shipment was loaded for the Port of Douala in Cameroon, to be transported via land to Chad. This step follows discussions between Sonatrach and Gazcom, a local distributor of petroleum products, to study the feasibility of supplying Chad with LPG.

These talks culminated in the signing of a framework agreement on April 21. This represents "a significant step for Sonatrach toward establishing a direct relationship with a local distributor in the Sahel region, while opening prospects for fruitful and sustainable commercial relations with other local distributors in Africa," the statement highlighted.

Notably, Algeria and Chad signed a cooperation protocol in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors on December 17, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen African cooperation and promote South-South strategic partnerships.

This agreement aims to bolster bilateral partnerships, encourage the transfer of expertise and skills, and launch joint projects in the fields of exploration, production, and resource valuation.
