The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, held a meeting yesterday, Thursday, via videoconference, with the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy of Côte d'Ivoire, Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, according to a ministry statement.

This meeting, which comes "in execution of the directives of the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at promoting and expanding the horizons of international partnership and strengthening cooperation at the continental level, and as a follow-up to the cooperation file with Côte d'Ivoire," was dedicated to identifying the main axes and strategic priorities of Algerian-Ivorian cooperation.

During the meeting, Mr. Adjal reiterated "Algeria's keenness to elevate bilateral cooperation relations to levels that align with efforts aimed at supporting energy development in the African continent and strengthening regional energy security," according to the same source. He also emphasized "Algeria's readiness to meet Côte d'Ivoire's needs across the various links of the value chain in the energy sector, particularly in the fields of production, transmission and distribution, as well as electrical and gas equipment, and research and development equipment."

The Minister also emphasized Algeria's commitment to fulfilling all its obligations toward the Ivorian side, highlighting the importance of the training axis, which Algeria can guarantee for the benefit of Ivorian technicians and executives through specialized training schools affiliated with the Sonelgaz Group.

The Minister added that the realization of these commitments remains linked to the Ivorian side precisely identifying its needs and requirements as soon as possible, according to the statement.

For his part, the Ivorian Minister praised the level of competence and professionalism that he, along with members of the Ivorian delegation, witnessed during his visit to Algeria, commending the existing level of cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

He emphasized his country's keenness to establish effective and sustainable cooperation with Algeria, which he described as a "reliable partner" given its permanent commitment to fulfilling its pledges and honoring its obligations.

The meeting's proceedings culminated in an agreement to begin preparing a draft framework agreement between the two ministries, to be preceded by an official correspondence from the Ivorian side containing a precise definition of its priority needs and requests, in preparation for establishing a practical and integrated cooperation program between the two countries, according to the statement.
