The proceedings of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group began on Monday in Brazzaville, featuring a dense five-day program that includes several statutory meetings and roundtables dedicated to financing the development of the African continent.

This event, organized under the theme "Mobilizing Resources at Scale for the Financing of Africa's Development in a Fragmented World," is being held with the participation of delegations representing the 81 member countries of the AfDB, including Algeria.

The first day of the proceedings is marked by the organization of preparatory meetings of the Board of Governors, a ceremony celebrating Africa Day, as well as high-level discussions on reforming the financial architecture and mobilizing large-scale investments in Africa.

The official opening ceremony of the Annual Meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, in the presence of several African heads of state. This will be followed by the launch of the 2026 edition of the African Economic Outlook.

The meetings' program also includes several knowledge-sharing events dedicated notably to mobilizing capital for resilient growth, strengthening African financial systems, financing energy and transport infrastructure, as well as harnessing the African demographic dividend.

On the sidelines of the statutory proceedings of the Board of Governors, several thematic meetings will be organized. These will focus particularly on trade finance in Africa, investments in the water sector, the role of institutional investors in the new African financial architecture, as well as climate finance and resilience mechanisms.

The Meetings will also feature forums dedicated to the private sector, African economic integration, capital markets, partnerships, as well as sustainable development solutions and the mobilization of the continent's domestic resources.
