The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lounès Magramane, highlighted the significant progress made by Algeria in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in accordance with the United Nations 2030 Agenda. His remarks came during a speech delivered as part of his participation in the annual session of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held at the UN headquarters in New York, according to a ministry statement on Tuesday.
Mr. Magramane emphasized the key achievements made by Algeria in this field under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. These include economic diversification away from hydrocarbons, the strengthening of digitalization and e-governance, the inclusion of youth and women, the acceleration of the energy transition, and the enhancement of water security—all of which are central themes of this session.
The Secretary General also stressed the importance of establishing constructive international partnerships, addressing the root causes of crises, and ensuring equitable development opportunities. He further called for accelerating the reform of the international financial architecture to ensure adequate and sustainable financing for developing countries.
