Spain has booked its place in the 2026 World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final clash in Dallas. La Roja will now face either England or Argentina as they chase a second global crown, following their maiden triumph in 2010.
Spain opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty, awarded after Lucas Digne brought down Lamine Yamal inside the box. Pedro Porro then doubled the lead in the 58th minute to seal the victory.
After enjoying a flawless run of six wins in six matches at this World Cup, the French national team saw its hopes of reaching a third consecutive final dashed. The defeat also marks the end of an era, as it was the final tournament for head coach Didier Deschamps.
Spain will now head to the final on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in New York, where they will face the winner of tonight's highly anticipated second semi-final between Argentina and England, scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
