The Algerian national handball team has kicked off a training camp in Algiers that will run until August 1, as part of its ongoing preparations for upcoming international competitions, the Algerian Handball Federation (FAHB) announced.
Led by head coach Raul Alonso Sanguino, the camp brings together a 22-player squad. The session is designed to focus on physical conditioning and technical-tactical drills, while simultaneously strengthening team cohesion ahead of their international fixtures.
According to the FAHB, this camp is a continuation of the strategic preparation program aimed at maintaining and elevating the national team's competitive edge. The coaching staff will prioritize optimizing the players' physical fitness, refining tactical strategies, and enhancing collective on-court chemistry.
This latest gathering comes just a month after a medical and technical evaluation camp held from June 8 to 10 at the Higher School of Hotel Management and Catering (ESHRA) in Aïn Benian, Algiers. That previous session was dedicated to medical examinations, physical fitness tests, and overall player assessments to tailor individualized off-season training programs.
The Algerian squad is steadily building momentum for its upcoming international challenges, most notably the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, scheduled to take place from August 21 to September 3.
Drawn into Group B, Algeria will face Tunisia, Greece, and Cyprus, with a highly anticipated Maghreb derby against the Tunisians highlighting the preliminary round.
