Directed by the President of the Republic: Sifi Ghrieb Arrives in Niger for an Official Visit

The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, arrived this Wednesday in the Republic of Niger for an official visit aimed at strengthening the relations of brotherhood, cooperation, and partnership between the two countries. This visit comes at the direction of the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's office.

The Prime Minister is accompanied on this visit by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Mr. Abed Hallouz.

Upon his arrival at Diori Hamani International Airport in the capital, Niamey, the Prime Minister was received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Ali Lamine Zeine Mahamane, accompanied by several government members and senior officials, according to the same source.

Following the reception, the Prime Minister and his Nigerien counterpart held a bilateral meeting in the airport’s VIP lounge, dedicated to reviewing "the current state of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen joint cooperation and elevate it to broader horizons, in service of the mutual interests of the two fraternal nations and peoples."

On the occasion of this visit, as noted in the statement, "the Prime Minister, alongside his Nigerien counterpart, will oversee the inauguration ceremony of the Algeria-Niger Solidarity Power Plant in Gorou Banda, located in the capital, Niamey, with a capacity of 40 MW. The commemorative plaque will be unveiled for this strategic energy project, which was completed as a donation from the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Niger, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic and within the framework of supporting Niger's efforts to enhance its electricity production capacity and improve power supply services."

Additionally, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb will be received by the President of the Republic of Niger, Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani.

"This visit reaffirms the depth and strength of the historical relations binding Algeria and Niger, which are based on the principles of good neighborliness, solidarity, and mutual respect." It also reflects "the firm political will of the leaders of both nations to build a renewed and effective partnership that contributes to supporting development and stability while strengthening regional integration across the African continent. Furthermore, it embodies a shared commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to broader horizons in service of the mutual interests of both countries," according to the same source.
