The State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, conducted an inspection visit yesterday, Saturday, to the headquarters of the Consulate General of Algeria in London, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria to the United Kingdom and the Consul General of Algeria in London. This visit is part of his ongoing working visit to the United Kingdom, according to a statement from the ministry.
According to the statement, this visit provided an opportunity to "assess the operations of various consular departments and review the reception conditions for members of the national community, as well as the efficiency in addressing their concerns. It also allowed for monitoring the efforts made by the consular staff to improve the quality of provided services, as the State Secretary inspected the various consular facilities and structures, and was briefed on the adopted working mechanisms and measures taken to modernize the consular facility with the aim of bringing the administration closer to the citizen."
On this occasion, "Mr. Chaib issued a series of instructions aimed at elevating consular performance, simplifying administrative procedures, and strengthening mechanisms to address citizens' concerns. This comes in response to the aspirations of members of the national community abroad and embodies the special care given by the country's highest authorities to our citizens residing overseas."
According to the same source, this visit also served as "an opportunity to meet with several members of our national community who were visiting the Consulate General, where he engaged in conversations with them regarding various matters related to consular services and their living conditions in the United Kingdom, reaffirming the importance that the Algerian state attaches to direct and continuous communication with its community abroad and to listening to their concerns and aspirations."
On the sidelines of this inspection visit, the State Secretary oversaw "the launch of a new multi-activity cultural space at the headquarters of the Consulate General of Algeria in London. This initiative is part of efforts aimed at enhancing Algeria's cultural presence in the United Kingdom and showcasing the national civilizational and cultural heritage."
In this context, the State Secretary emphasized that "the opening of this cultural space comes in response to the pressing requests in the cultural field from our community residing in this country, explaining that this step constitutes a first phase in the process aimed at completing the Algerian Cultural Center project in London, which is currently underway. This will provide a permanent and integrated space to highlight the richness and diversity of Algerian culture and enhance its radiance, as well as strengthen the bonds of communication among members of the national community and deeply root their attachment to the components of their national identity."
