International Agency for Research on Cancer Praises Algeria's Progress in the Pharmaceutical Industry Field

The Director-General of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization, Elisabete Weiderpass, praised the progress made by Algeria in the field of the pharmaceutical industry in recent years, as well as the efforts exerted to develop the manufacture of anti-cancer drugs, stressing that this dynamism reflects a determination to build an integrated and sustainable pharmaceutical and health system, according to a statement issued this Saturday by the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry.

The international official's remarks came during her reception by the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, on the sidelines of the International Cancer Research Forum held in Algeria.

The statement explained that the meeting provided an opportunity to review the reality of the national pharmaceutical industry and the results achieved within the framework of implementing the national strategy aimed at strengthening health sovereignty, particularly in the field of cancer prevention and treatment.

The two parties also discussed efforts to develop the local production of innovative anti-cancer drugs and to encourage scientific research and innovation in this field, in addition to examining prospects for cooperation and the exchange of expertise in research and development to keep pace with the latest scientific advancements related to the manufacturing of these medications.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening joint cooperation to contribute to supporting scientific research and developing therapeutic solutions for the fight against cancer.
