The Minister of Mines and Mining Industry, Mr. Mourad Hanifi, received on Thursday in Algiers the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov. The two sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in technical and academic fields, as well as the implementation of joint programmes for geological mapping, prospecting, and exploration, according to a Ministry statement.

During the meeting, held in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Mines in charge of Mines, Ms. Karima Bakir, along with Ministry officials and the Uzbek delegation, Mr. Hanifi outlined the key elements of the sector's strategic roadmap, in line with the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who is committed to making the mining sector a driver of economic diversification.

The Minister emphasized the contribution of the new Mining Law in providing a stable and attractive legal framework, offering strong guarantees, tax incentives, and other unprecedented advantages for foreign investment.

Both sides highlighted the depth and strength of the ties between the two countries, expressing their aspiration to elevate the mining sector toward new horizons of full control over the industrial value chain through win‑win strategic partnerships based on the local valorization of mineral resources.

They also agreed to activate partnerships in several branches, notably technical and academic ones, through the training of sector executives at specialized Uzbek institutions, in coordination with Sonarem‑Training, in disciplines including geological prospecting and exploration, geophysical and mineral data processing, and drilling techniques.

The meeting also addressed cooperation opportunities in industrial transformation, particularly the development of structural projects that enhance local valorization of mineral resources such as copper, lead‑zinc, gold, uranium, tungsten, and lithium.
