A delegation from the hydrocarbons sector is participating in the "Global Energy Show Canada 2026," held in Calgary, Canada, from June 9 to 11. This event is one of the most prominent international gatherings specialized in the energy field, according to a ministry statement on Wednesday.
The Algerian delegation includes the Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the Director of the Exploration Branch at Sonatrach, as well as directors and executives from the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT). The event is attended by senior government officials, global energy leaders, investors, and experts from around the world.
The delegation took part in the official opening ceremony and held a series of meetings with representatives of international companies and government institutions. These discussions were dedicated to exploring opportunities for cooperation, partnership, and investment in various fields of the oil and gas industry, particularly in field development, petrochemicals, emission reduction technologies, carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, environmental protection, and reducing the carbon footprint of the energy industry.
According to the same source, the members of the delegation highlighted the reforms initiated by Algeria to improve the investment climate and enhance the attractiveness of the hydrocarbons sector. They emphasized the advantages offered by the Hydrocarbons Law in terms of transparency, legal stability, and incentives for partners and investors.
The delegation also presented the investment opportunities available in Algeria, specifically within the framework of the "Algeria Bid Round 2026" launched by ALNAFT. This tender includes seven promising exploration perimeters with significant oil and gas resources, offering competitive development potential due to their proximity to processing facilities and transport networks.
This international platform also served as an opportunity to highlight strategic energy projects in which Algeria participates at regional and continental levels, led by the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in Africa.
In this regard, the opening session featured the participation of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, who reviewed his country's efforts to boost natural gas production. He reaffirmed the strategic importance of the TSGP as a pivotal continental project connecting Nigeria to Algeria via Niger.
The Nigerian official noted that this strategic project will enable the transport of Nigerian gas to international markets, especially European ones, through Algeria, emphasizing that it represents a fundamental pillar for enhancing African energy integration and supporting regional and international energy security.
Algeria's participation in this global event aligns with its efforts to strengthen its presence in international energy forums, promote investment opportunities within the hydrocarbons sector, and develop partnerships with major international corporations to support national economic development and solidify its position as a reliable partner in the global energy market.
