The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamel Rezig, discussed on Thursday in Algiers with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov, ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries and expand bilateral cooperation, according to a Ministry statement.
The meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters as part of the Uzbek official's official visit to Algeria, provided an opportunity to review the current state of bilateral relations and their development prospects, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.
Both parties addressed ways to increase the volume of trade and facilitate the flow of goods between economic operators in the two countries, stressing the importance of exploring new cooperation opportunities through access to the African market and taking advantage of the benefits offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The two sides also examined mechanisms to strengthen communication between economic actors, proposing the establishment of an Algerian-Uzbek Business Council aimed at providing an institutional framework for intensifying dialogue and exchanging information on available trade and investment opportunities.
In the same context, both parties emphasized the importance of encouraging the participation of economic enterprises in trade fairs and economic events organized in both countries, contributing to the promotion of national products, the exploration of business opportunities, and the establishment of direct partnerships between economic operators.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the need to continue coordination and consultation to support bilateral economic cooperation and intensify reciprocal visits between economic operators, thereby strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting their openness to regional and international markets.
