Davis Cup - Africa Zone : Algeria Defeats Botswana and Qualifies for the Play-offs

The Algerian men's tennis team achieved a third consecutive victory, defeating its Botswana counterpart 3-0 this Friday, during the third round of Group A in the Davis Cup (Group IV - Africa Zone), currently taking place in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

​"Les verts" opened the matchup with a straight-sets victory by Samir Hamza Reguig over Seabo Saleshando (6-3, 6-0). Following that, his teammate Toufik Sahtali extended the lead against Ntungamili Raguin with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

In the doubles competition, the Algerian duo composed of Toufik Sahtali and Nazim Makhlouf defeated the Botswana pair Batsomi Marobela / Ntungamili Raguin 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.

With this victory, the Algerian national team completes a perfect run with three wins in three matches, qualifying for the play-offs for promotion to Group III (Africa Zone) of the 2027 Davis Cup.

​In the play-offs, the Algerian team will face Angola, who finished second in Group B behind the leaders Zimbabwe

Should they secure a win in this matchup, the Algerian national team will guarantee promotion to Group III (Africa Zone) for the upcoming season.

It is worth noting that eight teams are participating in this edition, distributed into two groups of four.

According to the competition system, following the group stage, the leader and runner-up of each group qualify for the play-offs to compete for the two promotion spots to Group III (Africa Zone) in 2027.

Meanwhile, the teams finishing in third and fourth places will play placement matches with high stakes, as the losing teams will be relegated to Group V for the following season.
