The provisional toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 2,954 dead and 16,592 injured, authorities in the country announced.
Over 16,000 people have lost their homes and 856 buildings have been damaged, according to the damage assessed by the Venezuelan Ministry of Communications following the double earthquake of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, which primarily affected the State of La Guaira in the north of the country.
A previous toll had reported 2,645 deaths.
