The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, participated in the second meeting of the African Artificial Intelligence Council, held on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2026 and the AI Governance Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, according to a ministry statement on Wednesday.
The same source explained that this meeting represents "the actual launch of the council's work through the adoption of the roadmap and action plan for the next two years, alongside the installation of six specialized committees tasked with implementing the pillars of the African Strategy for Artificial Intelligence."
It is worth noting that the Minister of Post and Telecommunications is leading a high-level delegation participating in the global dialogue on "AI Governance" organized under the auspices of the United Nations in Geneva. This comes as part of Algeria's commitment to contributing to the formulation of a balanced international framework for AI governance that promotes sustainable development, preserves state sovereignty, and serves the common interests of the international community.
