ALGIERS - The Ministry of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport announced in a statement on Wednesday that the issuance of the "Apostille" will begin today, Thursday. This will enable citizens to certify civil status documents, as well as diplomas and educational documents issued by training institutions under the sector, for use abroad.
The ministry "informs all citizens wishing to certify their public documents for use abroad that, starting July 9, 2026, the Apostille certificate will be issued for civil status documents, as well as for diplomas and educational documents issued by training institutions under the sector," the statement specified.
This measure applies to documents "intended for use in member states of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents," the same source added.
"Starting July 9, 2026, citizens will be able to submit their requests for this certificate through the dedicated national platform on the website apostille.gov.dz, and finalize the legalization procedures at the administrative districts of the wilaya of Algiers and the daira headquarters of the remaining wilayas of the country, which are authorized to issue the Apostille for civil status documents issued by their respective municipalities," the statement concluded.
