Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, confirmed that the fault affecting the electrical facility in "Sidi Okba," Biskra, was caused by the intense heatwave affecting several of the country’s wilayas, reassuring citizens that "the fault is exceptional and has been brought under control."
Adjal’s statement to the press came during his visit, accompanied by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and the Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication at the Presidency, Kamel Sidi Said, on Tuesday night to Wednesday, to the National Electricity Grid Control Center in Algiers to oversee the process of restoring the electrical grid following the technical fault at the "Sidi Okba" facility.
The Minister explained that "Sonelgaz teams are on the ground and are working to gradually restart the electrical grid."
He noted that "electricity consumption in Algeria has risen significantly compared to last year, with two record peaks in energy demand recorded within two days, reaching 21,370 megawatts," emphasizing that "the state has allocated significant investments to ensure quality electricity supply to all citizens across all regions of the country."
Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, accompanied by Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal and the Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication at the Presidency, Kamel Sidi Said, had traveled on Tuesday night to Wednesday to the National Electricity Grid Control Center in Algiers to oversee the restoration of the electrical grid following the technical fault at the "Sidi Okba" facility.
