The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, asserted today, Thursday, in Berlin, that relations between Algeria and the Federal Republic of Germany are strong and are going from strength to strength.

In a joint press conference with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Friedrich Merz, the President of the Republic stated that Algerian-German relations, which were established right after independence in 1962, are "strong, good, have never seen any dispute, and are going from strength to strength," adding that relations with Germany are "among the best cooperative relations that Algeria currently maintains."

The President of the Republic explained that "Algeria, today, has developed and seeks to enter new fields, such as developing the specialized pharmaceutical industry, by benefiting from the highly advanced German experience in this field," recalling that he recently laid the foundation stone for the project to establish the Algerian Institute for Stem Cell and Gene Therapy.

In response to a question regarding the convicted French journalist, the President of the Republic said: "Out of respect for the Algerian judiciary, I will not answer this question except in Algeria. Since I am not in Algeria, I will not answer this question."
