The Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, received on Wednesday in Algiers a high-level delegation led by the Director General of Italian Public Security, Vittorio Pisani, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement.

Mr. Badaoui held bilateral talks at the DGSN headquarters with his Italian counterpart, which were subsequently expanded to include the police delegations of both countries, during which they examined ways and means to consolidate and promote joint police cooperation mechanisms, the same source specified.

On this occasion, both parties welcomed the level of joint police cooperation and operational coordination between the Algerian and Italian police forces, particularly in the fight against transnational organized crime, irregular migration, and cybercrime, to address shared security challenges, in addition to strengthening the joint training program.

On the sidelines of the talks, the DG of National Security and his Italian counterpart signed a Technical Cooperation Protocol between the police forces of the two countries, aimed at strengthening field and operational mechanisms to combat organized crime in all its forms.

The Director General of Italian Public Security and his accompanying delegation are the guests of honor at the celebrations marking the 64th anniversary of the creation of the Algerian Police, the statement concluded.
