Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired on Thursday a Government meeting dedicated to examining several draft decrees related to the transport and telecommunications sectors, as well as presenting communications on projects to establish a national accreditation network and a national fact-checking and monitoring system, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office:
"The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, chaired today, Thursday, July 23, 2026, a Government meeting dedicated to the examination of several points.
Before starting the meeting, the members of the Government observed a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the fires that the country has experienced in recent days.
The Government examined a draft executive decree setting the conditions for granting authorizations to occupy the public port domain, as well as concessions for public equipment or authorizations for private equipment with a public service obligation.
This draft text comes in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, aiming to adopt a new strategy for port development and management. This is materialized on the ground by mobilizing all stakeholders within the port area to achieve the previously set objectives, including the optimal management of port space, compliance with unloading times, and the reduction of waiting times for ships at anchor.
The Government also examined two draft executive decrees approving the renewal of licenses to establish and operate public electronic communications networks, specifically GSM cellular standard networks and the provision of related services, awarded to the companies ATM Mobilis and Optimum Telecom Algeria. This is part of the procedure for renewing the license to establish and operate a GSM electronic communications network, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 18-04 establishing the general rules relating to post and electronic communications.
Furthermore, the Government examined the progress of the project to set up the national network for accreditation, certification, and homologation, which relies in particular on the Network of Testing and Conformity Analysis Laboratories (RELEAC) and its digital platform GEOLAB.
This project constitutes an essential lever for implementing public policies to protect and promote the national economy and production, by strengthening the mechanisms for standardization, homologation, certification, and conformity assessment. It falls within the framework of efforts to strengthen the national system for assessing product conformity by improving coordination between laboratories and optimizing the use of national analytical capacities.
The Government also examined the project to set up a national fact-checking and monitoring system, with the aim of protecting the integrity of information and strengthening public trust in the digital media ecosystem.
This approach is part of the fight against the phenomenon of disinformation on social media platforms.
Finally, as part of the continuous monitoring of major structural projects, the Government reviewed the progress of several projects in the sectors of justice, health, water resources, public works, and culture."
