The Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, presided in Algiers over the ceremony celebrating the 64th anniversary of the creation of the Algerian Police.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday evening in the presence of the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, several members of the Government, and advisors to the President of the Republic, as well as representatives of police forces from sisterly and friendly nations, with Italy attending as the guest of honor.

In an address delivered on this occasion, Mr. Sayoud emphasized that celebrating this anniversary constitutes "a tribute of loyalty and gratitude to a national institution that has accompanied the building process of the Algerian state and assumed the responsibility of preserving the security of the homeland and the dignity of the citizen."

This occasion coincides with Independence and Youth Day, giving it a "particular symbolism" as it reflects continuous loyalty to the sacrifices of the Martyrs and the ongoing construction of "a strong Algeria capable of meeting various challenges," he added.

The minister welcomed the "qualitative transformation" achieved by the Algerian Police in recent years, emphasizing that it "has become a modern security force combining field experience, scientific training, and advanced specialization, thanks to a strategic vision adopted by its leadership, the competence of its staff, and the support provided by the state."

For his part, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, stated that the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the Algerian Police was an opportunity to look back on the path traveled by this institution since Independence, "when it began with modest resources and a national determination drawn from the values of the Liberation Revolution, before evolving into a republican institution that, alongside other security forces, carries out the missions of maintaining public order and protecting people and property."

The development and modernization of National Security remain at the heart of the priorities of the country's highest authorities, he added, before specifying that this orientation has materialized through the provision of essential human and material resources, as well as the construction of new security infrastructure to keep pace with urban expansion and the creation of new wilayas.

Emphasizing that the DGSN has placed particular importance on developing the training system by revising methods and curricula, as well as upgrading police academies, the official affirmed that the DGSN is continuing its digital transformation process by utilizing modern technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), alongside expanding its partnership with Algerian universities to leverage national expertise and keep pace with scientific and technological progress.

The ceremony featured the awarding of promotions and ranks to officers, as well as the decoration of several members of National Security with the medal of courage. Retired officers and athletes who distinguished themselves on the international stage were honored on this occasion, alongside children of National Security personnel who passed their baccalaureate exams with "Excellent" honors.

The program also included sports demonstrations, technical and professional exhibitions, and tactical exercises simulating field interventions in the fight against crime. Additionally, an exhibition on digitization within National Security was organized for the occasion.
