Magramane Receives Secretary-General of the Middle East Green Initiative

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounès Magramane, received Mr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Turki, Secretary-General of the Middle East Green Initiative, at the ministry's headquarters on Tuesday. The reception took place within the framework of Mr. Al-Turki’s current working mission in Algeria, according to a ministry statement.

The statement explained that the meeting "allowed for a review of the opportunities and prospects for cooperation with the organization in priority areas, aligning with our country's vision on issues of sustainable development and climate change, in execution of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in this domain."

The two sides also discussed the ongoing preparations for Algeria to assume the presidency of the Initiative's Ministerial Council for the 2027 term.

According to the ministry's statement, the meeting served as an important opportunity to emphasize the need to elevate regional environmental cooperation to effectively confront climate challenges, particularly desertification, land degradation, and drought.
