UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu Khalaf stressed that the crisis in Gaza is not only logistical but is, first and foremost, a political and humanitarian one.

In a statement, Abu Khalaf explained that the aid that has entered the Strip since the ceasefire represents only a very limited portion of actual needs.

He pointed out that before the war, approximately 600 aid trucks were entering Gaza daily, whereas after the ceasefire, only a few dozen trucks have been entering each day  a number that does not even approach the minimum required. He reiterated that the aid delivered since the ceasefire constitutes only a small fraction of what is truly needed.

The same official highlighted a severe shortage of fuel, medicines, and medical equipment, in addition to the urgent need to evacuate thousands of patients for treatment outside the Strip, including around 4,000 children.

Abu Khalaf also confirmed that bringing in more tents may be the only currently available option, but he emphasized that tents are not a permanent solution and called for the entry of prefabricated housing units as a better temporary alternative.
