Mandated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem, chaired a conference on Saturday at the Palace of Nations (Algiers). The conference was dedicated to the presentation and discussion of draft technical amendments to the Constitution and the organic law relating to the electoral system, in the presence of Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
Participants in the debate included the Acting President of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), Mr. Karim Khelfane; the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Mr. Saïd Sayoud; the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Mr. Lotfi Boudjemaa; as well as a number of advisors to the President of the Republic and representatives from 12 political parties.
This conference reflects "the commitment of the President of the Republic to ensure the upholding of an approach based on dialogue and consultation with all political actors, in order to strengthen the democratic process and consolidate the Rule of Law and institutions," the statement specified.
