A mentorship and financial support program for film projects in the writing phase by Algerian female screenwriters and directors has been launched by the National Festival of Women's Literature and Cinema of Saïda. The festival's 9th edition is scheduled for May 1 to 6, according to the organizers.

Aimed at women with short film projects under 60 minutes, whether live-action or animation, this financial aid is awarded directly to the selected candidates. It allows them to "continue writing a short film project under good conditions," specifies the Festival's Commissariat in a press release.

The selected candidates will participate in roundtables, masterclasses, and various professional workshops designed to develop their screenplay projects.

Five short film screenplay projects will be selected following the presentation of the projects before a jury of professionals, who will designate the winners to receive a grant.

Candidates must submit an original screenplay or a literary adaptation currently being written, explain the organizers, who also required that filming must not begin before the announcement of the results.

Applications must be sent to the email address boursesaida2026@yahoo.com before April 2.
