The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, will chair the ministerial meeting of the 117th ordinary session of the League of Arab States' Economic and Social Council in Cairo, Egypt, tomorrow, Thursday. This comes within the framework of Algeria's chairmanship of the current session, according to a ministry statement released this Wednesday.
The meeting is being held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. It will discuss a range of economic and social development matters aimed at strengthening joint Arab action, as part of the preparations for the economic and social file to be submitted to the 35th Arab Summit.
The agenda includes a number of economic and social files, notably the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), enhancing investment, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and entrepreneurship. This is in addition to topics related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainable development within the Arab region.
The proceedings of this session are expected to yield a series of resolutions and recommendations aimed at supporting the paths of Arab economic cooperation and integration, as well as promoting economic and social development across member states.
