Minister of Communication Zouhir Bouamama stated on Saturday in Algiers that Algeria "possesses all the elements and fundamentals that enable it to utilize soft power."
This statement came during a seminar attended by officials, experts, cultural and economic actors, and entrepreneurs, as well as athletes and content creators residing both in Algeria and abroad.
Accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, Bouamama presided over the national seminar titled "Algerian Soft Power: Towards Establishing a National Influence Strategy."
In his speech on the occasion, Bouamama linked the use of soft power to "presenting our country with its history, great heritage, culture, arts, and sports."
The Minister called for the necessity of "coordinating and mobilizing all parties, such as the media, civil society, intellectuals, influencers, content creators, and others."
Bouamama emphasized the goal of projecting the best image of Algeria and urged the necessity of engaging in this direction.
He continued: "This endeavor also aligns with the existence of a strong and clear political will expressed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune."
He reiterated the President's directive regarding "the necessity for us all to work on Algeria's image among others."
Bouamama added: "This direction coincides with the economic achievements and significant projects currently being realized."
He referred to the "major economic achievement represented by the Western Mining Railway Line (Gara Djebilet – Tindouf – Béchar)."
The Minister praised the "distinguished and successful presence" of Algerians abroad as a "soft power."
He added: "They are strongly connected to their homeland and work, each from their position, to present the Algerian narrative in the optimal way."
The Minister of Communication noted that this seminar serves as a "step that will be followed by new steps."
He stated that "the fruitful discussion will turn into a national strategy to craft a soft power befitting the level and size of our great country."
Zouhir Bouamama also focused on the fact that media professionals have "a major role in presenting the country's image in the best possible form."
