The young Algerian jumper Younes Ayachi won first place in the high jump event on Friday evening at the Hochsprung International Indoor Meeting in Germany, after achieving a jump of 2.28 meters, thereby establishing a new national record in the under-20 (U20) category and setting the world leading performance of the year.
The 17-year-old Algerian prodigy continues to surprise fans of this discipline by smashing his previous personal best, achieved last week during the Elmos International Indoor Meeting in Belgium, with a jump of 2.26 meters.
This new performance by Younes Ayachi constitutes the world's best performance of the year in the under-20 (U20) category, but also the 4th best performance of the year among seniors.
This feat, achieved during his second appearance of the 2026 athletic season, confirms a strong start and a successful participation on all levels.
It should be noted that he is now only two (2) centimeters away from the standards required to qualify for the World Indoor Athletics Championships, scheduled for March 2026 in Poland.
