The 2026 Arab Nations Basketball Championship for senior men, which was scheduled to take place in Egypt from August 4 to 12, 2026, has been postponed, the Algerian Basketball Federation (ABF) announced on Tuesday.

In a statement published on its Facebook page, the ABF explained that it had received official correspondence from the Arab Basketball Union announcing the postponement of the competition.

According to the Arab governing body, this adjournment is motivated by "exceptional circumstances experienced by certain Arab countries, which have impacted the number of participating national teams," adding that the new date for the tournament "will be announced in due course," the statement read.

It is worth recalling that Algeria was set to take part in this competition with the goal of defending the title it won last year in Bahrain. To this end, Ali Bouziane's men completed several training camps, the last of which took place in Slovenia from July 4 to 14, during which they played several friendly matches.

Furthermore, the national coach was scheduled to host a press conference at the conference room of the "Mohamed Boudiaf" Olympic Complex this Tuesday (6:00 PM) to discuss the preparations and objectives of the National Five for this 27th edition of the Arab Championship.
