The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, reaffirmed this Wednesday in Addis Ababa Algeria's support for any effort contributing to strengthening the African organization and lifting it out of a logic of self-isolation.

In his speech during the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in Addis Ababa (February 11-12), while discussing the report of the Permanent Representatives Committee, Mr. Attaf stated: "Algeria supports any effort that would contribute to strengthening our organization, lifting it out of a logic of self-isolation, and enhancing its presence continentally and internationally, as well as enabling it to deal with current challenges—whether continental or global—with total realism and responsibility". He added: "Algeria provides full support and backing to our Commission, and full support and backing to the rotating presidency of our organization".

Regarding the African Summit currently being prepared, the Minister of State emphasized that it "is of paramount importance given the general international context in which it is being held". A context that, as he stated, "we all realize threatens to marginalize Africa, overlook its issues and priorities, and neutralize its role and voice".

From this perspective, Attaf added, "our work should not be restricted solely to the immediate aspects concerning the internal management of our organization. Instead, it must extend to a broader and more comprehensive horizon to establish a truly collective and forward-looking vision. A vision that accurately identifies the dangers and threats lurking for us all, adapts our joint action to the rapid transformations surrounding us, and reaffirms our unity project as an indispensable strategic choice to safeguard our common destiny in today’s turbulent world, and in tomorrow's world, which we hope will be more attentive to our concerns, more careful of our interests, and more responsive to our aspirations".
