The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated yesterday in Cairo in the ministerial meeting of the tripartite mechanism of Libya's neighboring countries, alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Mr. Badr Abdelatty, and the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti.
This meeting allowed the three ministers to consult on the latest developments in the State of Libya, and to discuss the prospects of contributing to advancing the political settlement process in this fraternal country.
The ministers also listened to a briefing presented by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ms. Hanna Tetteh, and discussed with her ways to support the UN efforts aimed at finding a permanent and definitive solution to the Libyan crisis.
The ministerial meeting culminated in the adoption of a joint statement emphasizing that a comprehensive political solution, under the auspices of the United Nations, remains the only way to end the division and preserve Libya's unity, security, and sovereignty, free from all forms of foreign interference.
