The American newspaper "The Herald" described Algeria as an "attractive destination and a true treasure" for hosting seven sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

This came in an extensive report published by the aforementioned newspaper about Algeria.

The newspaper took its readers on a charming tour rich in heritage across twenty Algerian cities.

"The Herald" considered these cities to be must-visit stops for every passionate traveler.

The American newspaper highlighted the city of Algiers (El Bahdja).

It paused at the Casbah, classified as UNESCO World Heritage, considering it a "vibrant mass with its ancient Ottoman palaces and old courtyards."

"The Herald" focused on "the Casbah's resilient mosques and its stairs polished by centuries of footsteps."

The newspaper added: "Algiers is also distinguished by prominent landmarks such as the Notre Dame d'Afrique Basilica, the Botanical Garden Hamma, Maqam Echahid, and the Bardo National Museum."

The report's author also covered the city of Constantine, its suspension bridges, and the Palace of Ahmed Bey with its Andalusian tiles, decorated ceilings, and marble columns.

The Beauties of Oran, Annaba, Timgad, and Tassili

The report touched upon "El Bahia" Oran, calm and comfortable, the second-largest Algerian city.

The newspaper noted that Oran is the cradle of Raï music, that raw and hybrid musical genre blending traditional Bedouin singing and Andalusian melodies.

After the city of Annaba, where Saint Augustin lived, "The Herald" moved to Timgad, the Roman miracle, and the Tassili n'Ajjer National Park.

The newspaper pointed out that Tassili hosts one of the world's most prominent prehistoric rock art complexes.

It recalled that UNESCO listed Tassili in 1982 on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage list, a dual classification enjoyed by very few sites on Earth.

Highlights of Tamanrasset, Ghardaïa, Tlemcen, and Tipaza

The American daily did not overlook the other prominent destination, Tamanrasset, the capital of the Hoggar.

It noted that Algeria is also Ghardaïa and its five ksour, Tlemcen and its Andalusian arts, Djemila (Sétif) and its Roman ruins, and ancient Tipaza.

The American daily concluded by praising Skikda or ancient "Rusicada," Mostaganem, Jijel and its famous Coast road, and Béjaïa, known for its Gouraya National Park.

"The Herald" also sang the praises of the charm of Tizi Ouzou, known for the Djurdjura mountain range and its ancient villages memorializing the springs of Amazigh culture.
