Over the past 24 hours, Civil Protection units have successfully extinguished 72 out of 80 fires across several Wilayas in the country, the General Directorate of Civil Protection reported in its Sunday operational update.
Detailing the situation regarding fires affecting forests, brush, undergrowth, agricultural crops, and palm oases, the Civil Protection services recorded a total of 80 fires by 7:00 a.m. this morning, successfully putting out 72 of them.
Meanwhile, Civil Protection teams are continuing their relentless efforts to extinguish the eight remaining active fires. These are distributed across eight different Wilayas, with one fire currently active in each of the following: Souk Ahras, Skikda, El Tarf, Saïda, Béjaïa, Jijel, Tizi Ouzou, and Boumerdès.
