The Minister of Culture and Arts, Mrs. Malika Bendouda, received the Minister of Youth and Culture of the Republic of Djibouti, Mrs. Fardoussa Moussa Egueh, on Saturday in Algiers. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to begin drafting a cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries, according to a ministry statement.
According to the same source, the two parties agreed on the "importance of initiating the drafting of a cooperation agreement" between the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Djiboutian Ministry of Youth and Culture. This agreement aims to "establish a legal framework for cooperation and enable the implementation of joint programs across various cultural and artistic fields."
The meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters, served as an "opportunity to exchange views on ways to elevate cultural and artistic cooperation between the two nations." Both parties "reaffirmed their determination to consolidate and develop bilateral relations to serve mutual interests and reflect the deep brotherly ties uniting the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Djibouti."
The statement added that the two officials reviewed "a range of priority areas for cooperation, primarily theater and cinema, as well as training in various cultural and artistic disciplines." This includes "providing opportunities for students from Djibouti to benefit from training programs at affiliated Algerian institutions." Discussions also covered "Algeria's support for Djibouti in the valuation of cultural heritage, particularly rock art, by leveraging Algeria's distinguished expertise in its protection and promotion."
Concluding the meeting, the two sides reiterated "the need to continue coordination and consultation by designating a focal point between the two parties. This aims to elevate the level of cultural cooperation to match the distinguished brotherly relations between the two countries, ultimately serving shared cultural development."
