As part of the double commemoration of the creation of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) and the nationalization of hydrocarbons, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb proceeded, this Tuesday, to lay the foundation stone for the project to construct a Continuous Catalytic Reforming (CCR) unit for heavy naphtha at the Arzew refinery in Oran.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's services, the Prime Minister also inspected several projects related to the energy sector in the Arzew industrial zone. He also inquired about the state of progress of strategic industrial projects intended to strengthen the national production base and consolidate industrial capacities in the energy field.
Mr. Ghrieb attended a detailed presentation by Sonatrach officials regarding the project to construct a Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) production unit. Subsequently, he visited the site to observe the pace of work and inspect the control room. This strategic project will contribute to meeting the needs of national refineries for MTBE, an essential substance in the production of unleaded gasoline.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new headquarters of the regional directorate of the industrial zone dedicated to Sonatrach's gas liquefaction and separation activity.
Mr. Ghrieb highlighted "the strategic importance that the President of the Republic attaches to this vital sector," presented as "an essential pillar of national development and energy security."
