A delegation of young people from the national community abroad arrived in Algiers to participate in the "National Memory Caravan," in realization of the State's efforts aimed at strengthening the attachment of the children of the diaspora to the motherland, a press release from the Ministry of Youth indicated on Saturday.

The delegation was welcomed at Algiers' Houari Boumediene International Airport by the Sub-Director for the Management of Youth Events and Major Events at the Ministry, Hassan Boulounis, on behalf of the Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Youth Council. He was accompanied by several central executives and the Director of Youth, Sports, and Leisure of the wilaya of Algiers.

Taking place on the occasion of the National Day of Memory, commemorating the massacres of May 8, 1945, this participation illustrates the State's efforts aimed at strengthening the bond of the children of the national community abroad with their motherland, the same source specified.

The delegation is composed of 56 young men and women who will take part in a rich national program running from the 8th to the 20th of the current month of May, across seven (7) major historical and cultural stops in Algiers, Bejaia, Constantine, Guelma, Setif, Tlemcen, and Oran.

This qualitative initiative, organized by the Ministry of Youth in coordination with the Supreme Youth Council (CSJ), aims to "allow the youth of the diaspora to better know the history of Algeria, discover the historical stops of the National Memory, and strengthen their sense of belonging and pride in their national identity. This will be achieved through a varied program including field visits, intergenerational meetings, and training and creative workshops in the field of digital content production."

It also comes as a "continuation of the efforts of the Ministry and the CSJ to implement instructive and relevant programs for the benefit of the children of the national community abroad. This is done in a way that strengthens their contribution to the national dynamic and makes them ambassadors of Algeria's values and its glorious history throughout the world," the press release concluded.
