The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) affirmed on Monday that it is following the "grave security developments" in the Middle East with "deep concern," calling for the urgent resumption of Iranian-American negotiations to achieve a peaceful settlement and preserve regional security and stability.

In a statement signed by its president, Brahim Boughali—who also serves as the President of the National People’s Assembly (APN)—the AIPU stated it is "monitoring with deep concern the serious security developments unfolding in the Middle East, in light of the recent military escalation and its extension to Arab countries."

He deplored the "stalling of the Iranian-American talks hosted by the Sultanate of Oman as part of its mediation efforts," emphasizing that the initiative had fostered "real hopes regarding the possibility of prioritizing the diplomatic path and sparing the region the risks of an open military confrontation with consequences that are difficult to predict."

Furthermore, the AIPU condemned "the priority given to the military option at the expense of dialogue," reaffirming its "categorical rejection of any recourse to force for the settlement of disputes, which must be resolved through peaceful means in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law."

The AIPU president also reiterated the "organization's constant commitment to respecting the sovereignty and integrity of Arab states, as well as its refusal of any threat to their security and stability," expressing "full solidarity with the countries concerned."

In conclusion, the Union called for the "immediate cessation of military operations, the exercise of restraint and a sense of responsibility, and the urgent resumption of negotiations for a peaceful settlement of the crisis to preserve regional security and stability."
