General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, presided this Sunday evening at the National Army Club over an Iftar banquet and honoring ceremony in honor of female military and civilian personnel affiliated with the Ministry of National Defense, as well as personnel from the joint corps, on the occasion of International Women's Day, celebrated annually on March 8, according to a statement by the Ministry of National Defense.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Land Forces, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, the Commanders of the Forces, the Commander of the Republican Guard, the Chief of Cabinet at the Ministry of National Defense, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the 1st Military Region, Department Heads, the Comptroller General of the Army, and central directors from the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the People's National Army.
On this occasion, the General delivered a speech in which he affirmed that he perceives today, on the ground, the impacts of women's participation and their witnessed contribution to the renaissance of the new and victorious Algeria: "On this happy occasion, I would like to convey to all female military and civilian personnel the congratulations and best wishes of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense. Thanks to his wise policy, we are now witnessing on the ground the impacts of women's participation and their contribution to the renaissance of the new, victorious, and rising Algeria."
In this specific regard, "We at the People's National Army have been keen to open all doors for women, whether military or civilian, to ascend to higher ranks and access various specializations of the military profession, such as aviation of various types, parachuting, working on warships, riding motorcycles in the National Gendarmerie's road safety units, and even serving within battle corps units and combat units."
The General highly praised the audacity and courage of Algerian women in confronting colonialism and barbaric terrorism. He also commended their important role in society, stating: "I also highly value the role of Algerian women in society, as they are the ones who inherit and pass down the message of love for the homeland and pride in belonging to it, as well as loyalty to the sacrifices of our righteous martyrs and their eternal message. She is the pivotal actor around whom social relations are formed, and through whom the basic functions of the family are carried out in raising generations, instilling in them republican values and the specificities of national culture, and the duty of preparing a conscious generation capable of facing the challenges of the present and future with a spirit of citizenship and responsibility."
Finally, the General added, "I cannot fail on this happy occasion to salute the audacity of the Algerian woman, who stood tall against various colonial campaigns throughout history, and courageously confronted, with unparalleled bravery, barbaric terrorism, contributing to the failure of its obscurantist project."
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the General honored some female personnel with symbolic gifts, urging them to rise to the challenge and continue their serious and persevering work, wishing them success in their professional careers.
