The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, presided this Tuesday over the opening of a national seminar on the advantages of investing in the “Fund of Funds” (The Financial Investment Company of the University of Algiers 3), according to a statement from the ministry.
The Ministry stated that the seminar, held at its headquarters, was attended by the Chairman of the Commission for the Organization and Monitoring of Stock Exchange Operations (COSOB), along with Remote University Rectors.
Earlier this month, Mr. Baddari, alongside the Minister of Finance, Mr. Abdelkrim Bouzred, presided over the ceremony of granting the first accreditation in Algeria for a university-based Venture Capital (VC) firm, in favor of the “Financial Investment Company of the University of Algiers 3”.
Mr. Baddari considered this event a “national precedent, as it marks the first accreditation granted by the Commission for the Organization and Monitoring of Stock Exchange Operations (COSOB) to a university institution, specifically the University of Algiers 3. This accreditation establishes it as a Venture Capital (VC) firm, operating alongside the structural organization of the Fund of Funds”.
This accreditation comes to consolidate “the commitment of the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to reforming the university and strengthening its economic role, by enabling it to transition into a productive actor and a contributor to development financing”.
