Members of Parliament, convened in both chambers, unanimously approved the draft law on the technical amendment to the Constitution on Wednesday evening at the Palais des Nations (Algiers).

The approval was secured with 542 votes during a plenary session chaired by the President of the Council of the Nation and President of the Parliament, Mr. Azouz Nasri. The session was attended by the President of the National People's Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali; the President of the Constitutional Court, Ms. Leila Aslaoui; and the Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem, alongside members of the Government and representatives of official institutions.

This initiative, which includes 12 amendments, aims to "improve certain purely technical aspects of the constitutional provisions concerning the organization and functioning of specific constitutional institutions and public bodies."

Prior to the vote, the heads of the parliamentary groups affirmed their support for this amendment during their interventions, noting that it would "ensure a more precise application and avoid any ambiguity, reflecting a political will to build more effective institutions," particularly given the involvement of political parties in this process.

They also considered that these technical amendments reflect "the State's dynamism and its ability to adapt and fine-tune its legal mechanisms" by addressing any loopholes identified in practice. They stressed that the Constitution remains "the sovereign reference upon which the State is built to consolidate more efficient and effective institutions."
