The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, held talks this Tuesday in Algiers with the Serbian Minister in charge of International Economic Cooperation and Vice-Chairman of the Algerian-Serbian Joint Commission, Mr. Nenad Popović. The two parties explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of hydrocarbons, mining, and industrial investment, according to a ministry statement.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining in charge of Mining, Mrs. Karima Bakir Tafer, along with officials from both sides. This visit is part of the Serbian official's state visit to Algeria, as part of a delegation led by the Serbian Prime Minister, Mr. Duro Macut.
During the talks, both sides praised the strength of the historical friendship between Algeria and Serbia, reaffirming their shared political will to bolster economic cooperation to reflect the distinguished level of their bilateral relations. They also highlighted the positive momentum characterizing their ties, particularly through the exchange of high-level visits.
The talks focused on partnership opportunities in the fields of oil, gas, and downstream industries, as well as digitalization, engineering, and equipment manufacturing. They also discussed strengthening trade relations between the two countries' institutions, particularly in the natural gas marketing sector.
The two parties also reviewed cooperation potential in the exploitation and processing of mining resources in Algeria, as well as in geological studies. They emphasized the importance of leveraging Serbian expertise in these fields, particularly regarding the fertilizer industry, and fostering the exchange of experiences, technology transfer, and modern techniques in the mining industry.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to giving a new impetus to the Algerian-Serbian partnership, particularly in economic sectors of mutual interest.
