20th Session of the Algeria-Mauritania High Joint Commission: Signing of Over 29 Agreements Across Vital Sectors

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and his Mauritanian counterpart, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Djay, presided on Tuesday at the Government Palace in Algiers over the signing ceremony of more than 29 bilateral agreements covering several vital sectors.

These agreements include a cooperation accord to boost investment and business opportunities between the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) and the National Union of Mauritanian Employers (UNPM). A cooperation agreement was also signed between the Higher School of Sports Science and Technology in Dely Ibrahim and the Higher Institute of Youth and Sports in Nouakchott, as well as a twinning agreement between the General Inspectorate of Labor and the Mauritanian General Directorate of Labor.

The two countries also signed a twinning agreement between the National Institute for Higher Training of Youth Cadres in Tixeraïne and the Higher Institute of Youth and Sports in Nouakchott, and a cooperation agreement between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its Mauritanian counterpart.

In the same context, a cooperation agreement was signed between the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development and the Mauritanian Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation. Other accords include a cooperation agreement between the National Office of University Services and the Mauritanian National Center for University Services, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAM) and its Mauritanian counterpart.

Both sides signed an executive program between the Ministries of Vocational Training of both countries for the years 2026-2028. In the communication sector, an MoU was signed between the national television corporations of both countries, as well as an MoU between the Algerian Ministry of Communication and the Mauritanian Ministry of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament. Additionally, an executive program between the Ministry of Youth and the Mauritanian Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports, and Civil Service for the period 2026-2028 was finalized.

The list also includes an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries and the Mauritanian Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure. An MoU was signed between the General Directorate of Treasury and Accounting, the Central Bank of Mauritania, and the Mauritanian General Directorate of Treasury and Public Accounting in the field of Islamic banking, payment methods, and public accounting.

Furthermore, a government-to-government agreement was signed to determine facilities aimed at implementing cooperation projects. The session also culminated in the signing of an agreement on air transport services, a security cooperation agreement, and an MoU between the Algerian Ministry of Relations with Parliament and its Mauritanian counterpart.

Other significant documents include an executive cooperation program in the field of sports for 2026-2028, an MoU on environment and sustainable development, an agreement for the establishment of an Algerian Cultural Center in Mauritania, and an MoU in the field of electricity and new and renewable energies.

On the same occasion, the two countries signed a cooperation protocol between the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products and the Mauritanian National Laboratory for Drug Quality Control. Executive programs were also established between the Algerian Institute of Standardization (IANOR) and the Mauritanian National Bureau of Standardization and Metrology, and between the Algerian Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry and the Mauritanian Ministry of Health.

Furthermore, an MoU on industrial property was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Industry (General Directorate for the Promotion of Quality, Innovation, and Industrial Security) and the Mauritanian Ministry of Industry and Mines. Finally, an MoU on industrial cooperation between the two Ministries of Industry, an executive program for education for 2026-2028, and an MoU for the creation of a joint consular committee were also signed.
