The Algerian national team achieved outstanding results at the 2026 African Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence (AOAI) held in Tunisia, securing four medals—two gold and two silver. Following this success, the Minister of National Education, Mr. Mohammed Seghir Sadaoui, received the winning students on Tuesday to celebrate their performance in this cutting-edge scientific field.

The competition, which took place on April 11 and 12, saw the participation of 32 teams from various African countries. The Algerian laureates honored during the reception include Bouabdallah Rostom Mohamed Kamel, Khelifi Mohamed Alaeddine, and Nesrine Maazouz from the Mohand-Mokhbi Mathematics High School in Algiers, as well as Bouricha Sofiane from the Oudni Omar High School in Draâ El Mizan, located in the Wilaya of Tizi Ouzou.

In a statement from the Ministry, Mr. Sadaoui highlighted that these honorable results "clearly reflect the sustained interest of the State, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in national elites, particularly brilliant students excelling in scientific and technological fields." He added that this focus is part of a "strategic vision aimed at investing in human capital as a fundamental lever for achieving sustainable development."

The Minister praised the achievement as "proof of the dynamism of the educational system and its ability to train a promising scientific elite capable of worthily representing Algeria on the international stage." He also emphasized the continuous efforts of the Ministry to ensure high-quality training and to provide a stimulating educational environment to detect and refine talent across the national territory.

Furthermore, Mr. Sadaoui reiterated the sector's commitment to supporting these elites by providing the necessary conditions for excellence. He specifically acknowledged the central role played by teachers and supervisors, as well as the constant support of parents, whom he described as an "essential element in the journey toward academic excellence."

The Ministry concluded that these results are the fruit of a forward-looking national policy that prioritizes investment in knowledge. Under President Tebboune, the Algerian State remains dedicated to "forming a generation that masters modern tools of knowledge, capable of adapting to technological shifts and actively contributing to building a national economy based on innovation."
