The first session of the Algerian-Chadian Business Council was held yesterday, Monday, in Algiers, seeking to explore cooperation opportunities and establish partnerships between economic operators from both countries.

The session, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, was inaugurated under the supervision of the sector's Minister, Mr. Kamel Rezig, alongside the Chadian Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Mathieu Guibolo Fanga, according to a ministry statement.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Rezig considered the convening of this session a “significant milestone” in the process of strengthening economic cooperation between Algeria and Chad. He added that the establishment of the council serves as a “practical mechanism to translate the fraternal relations and historical ties between the two countries into tangible economic partnerships and joint investment projects that benefit both parties.”

The Minister also highlighted that this council “embodies the strong political will of the leaders of the two countries, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Republic of Chad, Mr. Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, aimed at promoting economic cooperation and developing trade exchanges. This opens new horizons for building African economic integration based on the exploitation of available potential and capacities,” according to the same source.

In this context, Mr. Rezig pointed to the strategic importance Algeria places on strengthening its economic openness toward the African depth. He emphasized that Chad represents a 'pivotal' partner in this direction, particularly in light of the efforts to develop air connectivity between Algiers and N'Djamena, as well as the ongoing work to operationalize the Trans-Saharan Highway (Algiers-Lagos) to facilitate the movement of goods and people and bolster intra-African trade.

He also extended an invitation to Algerian economic operators to seize the opportunities available in the Chadian market, reaffirming the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion to support them and provide all necessary facilities to encourage the presence of Algerian products in this promising market.

For his part, the Chadian Minister of Trade and Industry praised the convening of the council's first session, describing it as an “important step toward strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.” He emphasized that his country possesses numerous resources and economic potentials that offer promising opportunities for investment and partnership.

On this occasion, he invited Algerian business leaders to explore these opportunities and build joint projects that benefit the economies of both countries, according to the Ministry's statement.

This meeting provided an opportunity for business leaders from both countries to “explore cooperation opportunities and establish direct partnerships in various economic fields, contributing to a new impetus for trade exchanges and strengthening economic integration between Algeria and Chad within a balanced partnership based on the win-win principle,” the same source added.
