The Executive Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), Mr. Andrés Rebolledo Smitmans, will begin a two-day working visit to Algeria today, Tuesday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

This visit, which comes at the invitation of the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, constitutes a “new stage in strengthening the partnership between Algeria and the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), serving broader cooperation and mutual benefits,” the statement added.

During this visit, the Executive Secretary of OLACDE will hold meetings with several officials, led by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons. Additionally, he will visit a number of energy facilities in Algeria.

The Ministry noted in its statement the “distinguished” relationship between Algeria and OLACDE. Algeria joined as an observer on July 9, 2001, before obtaining permanent observer status in 2018.

By virtue of this status, “Algeria is the only country from outside the Latin American and Caribbean region to hold this position,” the same source added.
