The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, emphasized on Tuesday the full mobilization of the ministry's central services and its diplomatic and consular missions. This effort aims to fulfill the tasks assigned to them in supporting the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) to ensure the optimal organization of the election of members of the People's National Assembly (APN), scheduled for July 2, 2026.
The Secretary of State spoke during a coordination meeting held via videoconference with diplomatic and consular representations. Organized by ANIE at its headquarters in Club des Pins, the meeting featured the participation of the acting president of ANIE, Mr. Karim Khelfane, heads of diplomatic and consular centers, as well as ANIE coordinators and delegates assigned to diplomatic and consular representations.
In this context, Mr. Chaib stressed "the full mobilization of the central services of the ministry and its diplomatic and consular missions to carry out the tasks assigned to them in supporting ANIE, through the mobilization of all human resources and the provision of various necessary logistical and material means to ensure the optimal organization of this national event."
This meeting "reflects the shared commitment to pursue close coordination and cooperation between the services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and those of ANIE regarding the organization of this ballot for the benefit of the national community abroad, while drawing inspiration from the achievements and results accomplished during previous elections," he said.
Regarding the decision to increase the number of seats for representatives of the national community abroad in the APN from 8 to 12, Mr. Chaib stated that "this unprecedented achievement in Victorious Algeria reflects the will of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to grant the diaspora a prominent place in public policy, fulfilling his commitment to protect community members and promote their participation in the process of national renewal."
Elaborating on this point, Mr. Chaib affirmed that this "important achievement" is in harmony with the approach adopted by the State, in accordance with the instructions of the country's high authorities, aimed at "strengthening the bond with the national community abroad and integrating it more broadly into various national policies."
For his part, the acting president of ANIE highlighted the importance of the upcoming national milestone during the official installation ceremony of ANIE coordinators and delegates to diplomatic and consular representations, calling on them to "spare no effort to ensure the success of this event."
He also insisted on the need for "total and comprehensive coordination between coordinators, delegates, and the heads of diplomatic and consular centers," noting that the specificities of organizing this ballot abroad "demand cohesion, cooperation, and understanding."
