The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, took part alongside the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, Mr. Noureddine Ouadah, via videoconference, in an information day organized by the Consulate General of Algeria in Geneva, Switzerland. This second edition was titled "Algeria's Start-up Ecosystem: Opportunities and Prospects," according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs communiqué.
This activity, which is part of the ongoing and permanent communication with the national community established abroad and efforts to strengthen their involvement in the economic development process, coincided with Mr. Ouadah's working visit to Switzerland, the same source specified.
The interactive meeting, which saw the participation of more than 200 members of the national community living in Switzerland—including investors, entrepreneurs, project holders, and start-up promoters—follows the success of the first edition, serving as a platform for exchange regarding investment opportunities in Algeria.
In his address on this occasion, the Secretary of State highlighted the great importance the State places on the diaspora’s contribution to the development process, in line with the orientations of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He called for the encouragement of investment and the attraction of national talent, particularly in the start-up sector.
He also highlighted the efforts made to improve the business climate through structural reforms and incentive measures aimed at creating a favorable environment for initiative and investment. He recalled the continuous meetings organized with members of the diaspora in various countries to strengthen their participation in national projects.
In this regard, Mr. Chaib reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to accompany and support Algerian nationals abroad, in coordination with the various relevant sectors, to realize their ideas, initiatives, and investment projects in Algeria.
The interactive framework of this information day allowed for responses to various concerns raised by participants, who welcomed the organization of such meetings. These sessions enable them to better understand the investment ecosystem in their home country and receive detailed explanations of the different mechanisms, incentives, and perspectives offered for an effective contribution of national talent established abroad to the strengthening of economic development, the ministry's communiqué concluded.
